Rick st Dennis Facebook Group Tag Challenge~May 2015

DT Choice at Smudgy Antics! Thanks so much!

Hello!

Today I wanted to share a tag I made for an art tag Facebook challenge hosted by Rick st Dennis MFA.  The challenge is short and sweet, make a tag and include this sentiment, "Summer is Fine, but I am ready for Halloween". This is sooooo true, I love Halloween!

I used the digital stamp Lizzywhigs, which you can see HERE at his Zibbet shop. This was lots of fun, have been wanting to use this image from my stash for awhile.

This is also the first play I have had with my new DecoArt supplies, I received through the wonderful Blogger Outreach Program. I included some extra photos I did along the way to show some of the steps.

I used DecoArt Modeling paste on the Dreamweavers Jack-o-lanterns. It was very smooth and easy to apply with a palette knife.

I used some Zing Orange embossing powder and heat melted it once the paste was dry.

I love the slightly bumpy texture it made once heated, almost like a real pumpkin :)

While the paste was drying I played with the misters to make the tag. I cut a manila folder down into the tag size I wanted. I misted the back of the tag with water so it would stay more flat while I sprayed the front.

I sprayed the Carbon Black, Primary Cyan, Purple and misted a bit with water to make it run. I applied some Shimmer Mister White onto before it was dry to get the nice clouding you see on the middle right.

The colors stayed pretty much as I saw them as sprayed, they really dried fairly fast on the manila tag. The best thing, once dry they are permanent! I added more Shimmer Mist White once it was dry for more 'stars'.

I printed the sentiment out using Photoshop Elements.  I used Distress Ink to color it a Halloween orange! Then cut it all up.

I used the Tim Holtz mini movers Halloween dies for the Bats, they are layered with pop up dots.

I love Lizzywhigs, she is colored using Sharpie Markers and Bic Mark It markers.

She is ready for Halloween, are you?

I love these new to me art supplies and had a lot of fun using them on this tag. I plan to keep playing :)

DominoART 15 Days of Terror Half-o-ween May Day 4

HI!

Today I am sharing a project I have posted at DominoART to celebrate the Half-o-ween May, 15 Days of Terror! DominoART is a fun place to play and you might have guessed, all the art is centered around altered game pieces!

This is my project, a first for me attempt at an altered Altoid tin.

I used some black Core'dinations paper for lining and covering the box. I love the kraft core it has, makes it look like cracked leather.

The stamps and embossing folders are Tim Holtz.

The images on the inside are a Smeared Ink digital stamp. Sadly, Smeared Ink is on hiatus for the time being.

Thanks so much for looking! Please stop by DominoART to see all the amazing art there.

May 1, 2015, Dream in Darkness NEW Dark Challenge Blog Launch Today!

Today we launch our very first Challenge at our new DARK Challenge blog, Dream in Darkness! This is intended as a new dark playground, where it is always Halloween and all things creepy.

We welcome all media and the theme is always Anything Goes. The creepier the better, just about the only thing we will turn away is cute, there are plenty of places to share cute. So come join us, indulge your darker side! The challenge runs the entire month.

Our fabulous first sponsor is Rick st Dennis! We are so happy and honored to have him onboard for our first challenge. We have a Creepster Feature page on the Dream in Darkness blog and you can read more about him, HERE

Rick generously provided some images to each of our Creative Team to play with. It would be awesome if you can make time to visit each of us :)

I was given this image, it is called "Rum Poison Bottle Label for Monique". I think is is a wicked reaper...

Click Mr. Reaper if you dare to see the canvas larger....

This is a digital hybrid canvas. I colored the image with Sharpies markers. Then I scanned it into my PC. All the layering was done using Photoshop Elements.

The pocket watch images over the skulls and crossbones are by Marta van Eck at Mischief Circus, you can find them in her wildly fun kit, Cabinet of Curiosities.  Some of the background papers are by Shadowhouse Creations by Jerry, a fabulous artist who shares such wonderful images.

I am so excited it is finally May 1st and Dream in Darkness is Open :)  I really am looking forward to seeing what all of you will come up with and share!

The linky to link up is HERE at Dream in Darkness Challenge #1

Happy Hauntings,
